NEW ORLEANS - Lipscomb cross country’s Brent Leber added another award to the trophy cabinet on Thursday by being named a 2019 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2019 All-Academic honoree. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships. Leber earned his spot among the prestigious group after compiling a 3.96 GPA as an Exercise Science major. On the playing field, Leber placed seventh out of 169 runners at the NCAA South Regional, earning All-Region honors and an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, the first such instance in program history. Leber also earned a rare double at the conference level this season, taking home both the ASUN Runner and Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards. The Bisons men’s and women’s teams were also honored by the USTFCCCA on Thursday. The men’s squad’s 3.58 GPA ranked 14th in the nation, while the women’s team’s 3.68 GPA was ranked 25th in the country. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. Read the full article at: www.lipscombsports.com
