Track and Cross Country Team Prepare To Serve in the Dominican Republic, Dec. 28-Jan. 4

Comments

Since 2012, Lipscomb Athletics Missions has sent nearly 700 student-athletes to participate in short-term mission trips in 10 countries across the globe.

This week, Lipscomb Athletic Missions is gearing up to send 14 members of the men and women’s cross country and track teams to the Dominican Republic to serve alongside Manna Global, an organization that exists to make disciples of Christ and bring hope in the name of Jesus to local communities, Dec. 28 through Jan. 4.

For the fourth year, the team will serve alongside local Dominican students to lead VBS classes, community outreach projects and share the good news of Jesus with the Bobita community.

“Our team is very excited to partner with Manna Global on our 4th trip to the Dominican Republic,” said Steven Mason, trip leader and assistant cross country coach. “We have an incredible group of student-athletes and staff that are ready to serve alongside the local Dominicans as we engage with their culture through intentional discipleship and community outreach. I am very excited for all that God has in store for this team over the next week.”

Mason says for several members of this group, this is their first time serving abroad on a mission trip, including sophomore track athlete Jacob Snyder.

“I’m super excited for the opportunity to participate in a new culture and community, and experience God in a way that I haven’t before,” said Snyder. “I hope that we can come alongside brothers and sisters in the Dominican and hopefully advance the Kingdom of God, not only through service but through relationships.”

Housed within Lipscomb Missions, Lipscomb Athletic Missions seeks to provide opportunities for student-athletes to live on mission as the hands and feet of Jesus.

“Lipscomb Athletic Missions serves as a launching pad for student-athletes and coaches to know Jesus and make Jesus known to others, said Chris Klotz, director of Spiritual formation in Lipscomb Athletics and Athletic Missions trip coordinator.  “We take very seriously the great commission and live into the call of making disciples of all nations. We are thrilled to join in on what God is doing in the Dominican, and trust that God is in complete control over every detail.”
